Weekend of June 21-22 marks 67th WHS Old Grads Reunion

WHEATLAND — The Old Grads committee is made up of WHS Alumni. We’re a small committee, but we are dedicated to our community.

The committee starts in January and works through the end of June every year to fund, plan, promote, and execute the reunion weekend events.

The Ice Breaker on Friday night (June 21) at the Agriplex starts at 6 pm and usually ends around 9 pm. There is a cash bar, appetizers, memorabilia, and this year — back by popular demand — a photo booth.

Also, this year the event will include a Silent Auction of pieces made and donated by mostly alumni. The money raised will go directly to the scholarship fund for 2025.

There is a $10.00 cover fee for the Friday night ice-breaker that can be paid at the door, or in advance, using the reservation card included in the Roundup or Roundup Supplement.

Saturday, June 22, features a Luncheon/Business meeting at the High School Gymnasium at 11:00 am, doors open at 10:30.  This includes a catered lunch and a $35.00 fee.

The fees for these events don’t just pay for the food, but funds everything, including the printing and mailing of the Roundup and Supplemental (which is half of our budget), venue rent (the Agriplex is expensive, but our best option for size and accessibility), decorations, labor for set up and tear down (in the form of donation to High School clubs), and scholarships, just to name a few.

The Old Grads Committee relies on the Roundup/Supplement advertising and donations from Alumni and the community to fund the weekend so reserving and prepaying for the events is strongly encouraged.

If you are a member of the Class of 1964 or earlier, you are a Golden Bulldog, and pay a reduced fee of $35 for both of the weekend activities.

The Roundup (full copy) will be sent to the incoming class of Old Grads (1984), and the Supplemental Roundup is sent to all past classmates.  We stopped printing and mailing full Roundup every year to everyone a few years ago to cut costs and will send full Roundup every five years.

This year’s mailing should be received by May 1st, which will include reservation cards. We encourage everyone to use them. This helps the committee and the caterers with how many to plan for.

We would like a shout out to Ruth Moyte of Red Dandelion Creative Services for all the hard work she does with the Roundup and Supplements.  She is also an alumnus, though she doesn’t qualify yet for Old Grads, she donates a lot of her time, talent, and resources.

We appreciate the advertising and donations by the community and alumni, couldn’t do it without them.

Old Grads is on Facebook, WHS Old Grads, and questions/comments are welcome.
