Prairie View Charter School busy and productive

Posted

WYOMING — Prairie View Charter School in Chugwater has just about wrapped up its first year in operation, and what a year it has been. The school board has settled in and conducts workshops and meetings monthly. According to the Prairie View Charter School newsletter, the board is creating five committees comprised of staff and community members to provide comprehensive feedback and examination of the school. There are five areas in which committees will oversee:  governance, academic, finance, audit, and facilities. It is projected that the committees will meet one-to-two times per year, and the board welcomes interest from qualified community members.

The school board is also partnering with the administrative team to get accreditation through a third-party organization.

Prairie View students have been busy and productive this year. After the Easter break, secondary students have been participating in FFA, track, and preparing for spring testing. One student took it upon themselves to create a yearbook for Prairie View Charter School.

As much of the school’s philosophy is project-based, elementary students are enjoying learning about composting with worms and watching their seedlings sprout.

Thanks to a volunteer in the community, an after-school gymnastics program has been initiated on Wednesdays.

Prairie View will host a Spring Showcase on May 16th at 5:30 p.m., which will be followed by graduation ceremonies May 17 at 6 p.m.
