A funeral service for Nellie Irene Johnson, 99, will be held at 1:00 P.M. Monday, December 16, 2024 at the United Presbyterian Church in Guernsey with Reverend Bill Walker officiating. Interment will be the Prairie Rest Cemetery near Guernsey.
Nellie Johnson passed away on Sunday, December 8, 2024 at the Platte County Legacy Home in Wheatland.
Nellie was born in Whitewood, South Dakota on Saturday, February 28, 1925 the daughter of Benjamin Herman and Martha Elizabeth (Todd) Fuqua. Nellie moved with her family at a young age to Meeteetse area of Wyoming where her father worked on ranches in the area. While her father was working for the Pitchfork Ranch, she met Robert “Bob: Johnson who was working as a ranch hand for the ranch. Bob and Nellie were married in Red Lodge, Montana on May 20, 1942. They moved to Guernsey in 1956 and made that their home.
She is survived by her children, Ruth Brookes (Larry), Melody Olsen (Wayne), Shelly Pedersen, and Robin Johnson; grandchildren, Tammy Duhon, Jeremy Perkins, Kerri Jamison, Tad Klemke, Heather Garrett, Benji Romero, Lucas Klemke, Ryan Perkins, and Brooke Gudahl; eighteen great grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Shumway Johnson; her parents; and siblings.
A memorial to the Central Wyoming Hospice for Wheatland, 319 South Wilson Street, Casper, Wyoming 82601 would be appreciated by the family.
