On October 15, 2026, Dr. David Paul “Dave” Schroeder, 73, passed away at his home in Wheatland. Dave was born on Friday, July 24, 1953, in Britton, South Dakota to Tylas and Alice Schroeder.
After graduating from High School in Britton, he attended the University of South Dakota. During his third year of college he was admitted to the dental program at the University of Nebraska. Thus, he became a Husker, Go Big Red!
After completing his D.D.S. degree, he purchased a dental practice in Lincoln. When the West began calling him, he moved to Laramie and founded Laramie Dental Arts. For more than 25 years he practiced dentistry and built lasting friendships with many of his clients. For several years, he served on board of The Downtown Clinic as the dental consultant.
Dave was a man of many interests and talents. He enjoyed painting, sculpting, and was an avid hunter, fisherman and outdoors man. His adventures took him throughout Canada and Alaska, and later to South Africa and New Zealand. The many mounted trophies on the walls of his home are a testament to his adventures and love of the outdoors. He was equally happy with a fishing rod in hand and, as recently as August, returned to one of his favorite fishing camps in Alaska.
Having worked in construction during college, Dave developed a lifelong passion for building, remodeling, and tackling just about any project that came his way. When he moved to Wheatland, he declared there would be “no more projects,” although anyone who knew Dave could appreciate the humor in that promise. He also enjoyed gardening, eventually planting his own vineyard and spending two years exploring the art of winemaking.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Schroeder; his daughters, Stacy Cooper (Peter) of Boise, Idaho, and Stephanie Schroeder of Brooklyn, New York; his granddaughters, Taylor and Sydney Cooper; and his stepchildren, Sarah Crum (Jeremie) of Riverton, Utah, and James Shawver of Laramie.
A celebration of Dave’s life will be held on Sunday, Nov. 1, 2026 at 2:00 p.m., at the Alice Hardie Stevens Center in Laramie. Arrangements are being handled by Gorman Funeral Home in Wheatland. Condolences may be shared atwww.gormanfh.com.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a local volunteer fire department, or Ducks Unlimited, in honor of Dave’s wishes.
