Marie was born February 23, 1944 in Dickinson, North Dakota to Marie and Nick Kaufman. She grew up in Dickinson and attended school there. After school she moved to Bismarck, North Dakota where she worked for a dental office. Marie met the love of her life George Bartholomew and they were married August 28th, 1965 in Bismarck. The couple were blessed with two girls Stacy and Kim. In 1976 they moved to Wheatland where Marie stayed home and raised her girls until she started a new adventure working at Marguerites shop in the 1980’s. She then purchased the shop and was lucky enough to have owned it for 16 years before retiring. After the death of her husband George in 2014, she moved to Roseville, Minnesota where she enjoyed time with her sister Lillian, many nieces and nephews and friends. In October of 2023 she moved to Chadron, Nebraska to live with her daughter Kim and son in law Robbie.
Marie loved to hunt, fish, golf, play cards and spend time with her grandkids and visit with friends. Christmas was her favorite time of year from Christmas trees, music and twinkling lights to every delicate decoration, she had it all and loved sharing it with her family.
A beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend. Marie was preceded in death by her mother, Marie; father, Nick; brothers, Elroy, Bill and Alfred; sisters, Lillian and Elsie.
Marie is survived by children Kim (Robbie) Diehl, Stacy (Jim) Gartzka, her grandchildren Lauden Keck (Dakota), Brendan and Cameron Gartzka, Katelyn Christian (Nathan), her brothers Jim and Nick and many nieces and nephews.
Marie died peacefully on Wednesday December 25th, 2024, in the home of Robbie and Kim. Her final wishes were not to gather for a celebration of life but a request to please say a prayer for all her family and to know how much each of you were loved by her.
