A funeral liturgy for Ida N. Waitman, 83, was held at 1:00 P.M. Friday, January 3, 2025 at the Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church in Wheatland with Father Hiep Nguyen as the Celebrant.
A rosary for the deceased was held at 6:30 P.M. Thursday, January 2, 2025 at the Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church.
Ida Waitman passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 29, 2024 at the Platte County Legacy Home in Wheatland surrounded by her family.
Ida was born on Wednesday, July 16, 1941 in New Mexico the daughter of Enrique and Josefita (Armijo) Montoya.
Ida loved her family and friends very much. She loved to cook, crochet, and do genealogy. She worked for the Wheatland School District #1, Wheatland HeadStart, Hested Store, and translated for the Platte County Court House. She also cleaned various businesses in town. She was a hard worker all her life.
Ida was a giver and loved to help others in need. Nobody went hungry when she was around.
She married the love of her life on December 8, 1962, John Waitman, and to this union came two children, John and Carmen.
Ida is survived by her children, John H. Waitman of Denver and Carmen (Bill) Stockwell of Wheatland; sister, Lupe (Bruce) Sowers of Wheatland; granddaughters, Shanon Stockwell and Nicole (Kory) Vance all of Casper; and her beloved great grandson, Morgan. Morgan was the twinkle in her eye and she lit up every time she saw him.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Waitman; brothers, Danny, Joe (Arlene), and Frank (Beverly); and sisters, Sally (Nick) and Dora.
Honorary pallbearers are all of her many family and friends.
Ida will be remembered by those who knew her for the moments they shared together and the impact she had on their lives. Her memory will remain a source of comfort and strength to all who mourn her passing.
A memorial to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 7023, Merrifield, Virginia 22116-7023 would be appreciated by the family.
