A funeral service for Donald Q. “Don” Gudahl, 97, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 27 at the First Christian Church in Wheatland, with Pastor Casey Schroeder officiating.
Don Gudahl passed away on Wednesday, May 21, 2025 at the Platte County Legacy Home in Wheatland.
Don was born on Wednesday, January 4,
1928 in Wheatland, the son of Oscar B. And Grace Viola (Broyles) Gudahl.
Don was reared and educated in Wheatland and graduated from Wheatland High School in 1946. Don played high school football his junior and senior year and was also worked on the school newspaper and won a journalism award.
He was recruited to play football for the University of Wyoming. He decided to quit the University of Wyoming to come home to help on the farm when his brothers were leaving home. 
Don served in the United States Army and served in the Korean War with the 23rd Infantry.  
Don married Leona May Brown on December 6, 1950. They were married a few days before Don had to leave for the Army. They celebrated 68 wedding anniversaries. 
Don worked for the Wheatland Postal service from 1959 to 1987.  
Don belonged to the First Christian Church where he proudly served many years as a deacon, then elder, and his favorite: handy-man.
One of Don’s proudest moments in life was marrying Leona and becoming a dad. His perfect day was when any of his grandkids visited him.
Don is survived by his children, Donna Artery, Karen(Curt) Artery, and Steven (Linda) Gudahl; grandchildren, Jeran (Mike) Artery, Brad (Mary) Artery, Tanda (Martin) Hicks, Josh (Marcia) Artery, and Quent (Brooke) Gudahl; great-grandchildren Elizabeth, Holly, Anthony, Sophie, Grace, Kye, Jake, Maggie, Julia, Jack, Kael, and Taylor; great-great grandchildren, Braxton, Camden, Cole, Micah, Adaline, Nico, and Milo; and siblings, Andrew and Alice Josephine “Ali Jo”.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Leona Gudahl, on December 9, 2018; father, Oscar Gudahl on October 18, 1973; mother, Grace Gudahl on July 10, 1992; siblings, Joyce Settell on June 5, 2016, Robert “Bob” on September 8, 1968, Victor “Vic” on August 25, 1994, Gene “Owen” on January 29, 2017, and Richard on August 19, 2016.
A memorial to the First Christian Church, 95 19th Street, Wheatland, WY 82201 would be appreciated by the family.
