WHEATLAND – The 2023 Wheatland High School prom celebrated in outer space last Saturday night as students, dressed in glamorous evening attire were seen throughout the town dining at local establishments before heading to the prom festivities.
The theme for this year’s prom was “Outer Space” and the kids had a chance to dance under the stars with casual dates and hopeful lifelong childhood sweethearts.
The DJ for the night was Wheatland band and music teacher Evan Bradley who gave the group a lively and varied show that was apropos for making some everlasting memories. The crowd was dressed to the nines and the boy’s headgear varied from camo to baseball caps to cowboy hats.
At 8 p.m. everything from pick-up trucks to shiny Vettes and everything in between were pulling up to WHS at around 7:30 as everyone prepared for the grand march that took place at 8 p.m. The march showcasing the students and their outfits was held in the WHS auditorium before getting back into their vehicles and speeding off to the 10th Street Social Club.
Snacks and refreshments were provided by the junior class and by the WHS FBLA.
It was a late night for Prom-goers, but knowing the parents of Wheatland, the Sunday morning chores were still completed before having to get ready for church.
