CHEYENNE – The Platte County Special Olympians have been working hard for the last six weeks in preparation for the Wyoming Special Olympics area games.
Their hard word paid off as they brought home many medals.
“We had a great time with Track and Basketball skills at the area games in Cheyenne April 13,” Cassidy Kirlin, Special Olympian’s head coach from Platte County said.
Jordan Mcclain received 2 Gold Medals, 1 Silver Medal and 1 Bronze Medal. Laramee Evans received 1 Gold Medal and 3 Silver Medals. Eli Jaren 1 Gold Medal, 2 Silver Medals and 1 Bronze Medal. Amy Copsey received 2 Gold Medals, 1 Silver Medals, and 1 Bronze Medal while Monika Ockinga Received 4 Gold Medals.
Miranda Ockinga received 3 Gold Medals and 1 Bronze Medal and Noah Hankin got 3 Gold Medals and 1 Silver Medal.
“We have State in Gillette May 18 – 19 and I'm excited to watch the team enjoy their time at competition and then go to the Victory Banquet/Dance,” Kirlin said. “As a team we are talking about trying some new things with the sports so that's pretty exciting.
