Parade lights up Glendo streets

GLENDO – With temperatures brisk in the ‘20s and no wind, the streets of Glendo filled rapidly at the start of the Parade of Lights in Glendo on December 9th.

The festivities began with the National Anthem and a bang of Fireworks. In addition to Christmas light-covered vehicles from the Sheriff’s Department, ambulance, fire rescue and rural fire rigs, there were several creative floats including “lineman” Santa and helpers, Santa and his sleigh pulled by his shiny “John Deere” reindeer, several off-road ATV Christmas helpers, military tank Santa & Mrs. Claus, 4-H kids, area ranchers, 307 Disposal, and more.

Following the parade there was a tree lighting and more fireworks, then Santa and Mrs. Claus gave out goodie bags to the kids at Town Hall. Revelers were also treated to hot cocoa at Bullfrog’s; hot cider at the Old West Saloon; Adult gift baskets at Angler’s; cookies from Kim’s Place; gift bags from the Trading Post; and chili with fixin’s, cupcakes and some special gifts for kids at the Glendo Fire Hall.
