On Friday, Sept. 11, 2026, Martha Leona Nation shed her physical body to join her beloved husband, Charles, and her best friend, Lee, who preceded her in death.
Leona fiercely loved Wyoming and the beauty of its land. She delighted in fishing, exploring Wyoming’s history, and losing herself in a good book. With her quick wit and love of a good joke, she brought laughter wherever she went. Her door was always open, she always had a pot of coffee, and a snack ready for anyone who stopped by to chat. She also held a special place in her heart for Boston terriers, especially Sleepy, Missie, and Apache.
Throughout her life, Leona was a business owner, a 911 dispatch operator, a cook, and anything else she decided she felt like being. She lived with humility, joy, curiosity, humor, and an enduring willingness to forge her path.
Leona is survived by her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, into whom she poured her love whenever she could. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered in the stories, laughter, and lives of all those who knew her.
Gorman Funeral Homes - Platte Chapel of Wheatland, Wyoming is in charge of the arrangements.
