Bonita Jean “Bonnie” Lawrence Tillman Lockman, 84, of Wheatland, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, Sept. 3, 2026, surrounded by her loving family after a lengthy illness.
Bonnie was born Thursday, Oct. 9, 1941 in Cheyenne to Albert Ross and Beryl Irene (Cuthbertson) Lawrence. She was raised in Wheatland and spent much of her life serving her family, church and community.
Bonnie married young and became the mother of two sons, Thomas Dwight “Toby” Tillman Lawrence and Timothy Wade Tillman Lawrence. After being widowed, Toby and Tim were lovingly adopted by Bonnie’s parents, Albert and Beryl Lawrence. Bonnie later welcomed daughters, Robyn Renae and Carla Jean. Following the loss of her second husband, she returned to Wheatland and reconnected with her childhood sweetheart, Benny Dale Lockman. They were married on Sept. 21, 1968, and later welcomed their son, Gary Dale Lockman.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Larry Lawrence and Toby Lawrence; grandson, Trevor Patchett; and her former husbands.
She is survived by her loving husband of nearly 58 years, Benny Dale Lockman; brothers, Donald Lawrence and Tim Lawrence; children, Robyn Fincher (Ken), Carla Patchett (Dell), and Gary Lockman (Sarah); along with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family members, and dear friends.
A Celebration of Life and graveside service for family and close friends will be held on Bonnie’s birthday, Oct. 9, 2026. Additional details will be announced at a later date.
