PLATTE COUNTY – With Christmas around the corner, people are gearing up for the holidays. As a courtesy to our readers, The Platte County Record-Times has compiled a list of some events and activities scheduled for the holiday season. 2023 Christmas Food Baskets

Sign up now through Dec. 15 at Department of Family Services. All basket donations and ingredients are due to the Platte Co. Chamber of Commerce by Dec. 13. Pick up at the Platte Co. Chamber of Commerce Dec. 16 from 8:00 to 11:00 a.m. 

2023 Angel Tree

Sign up children to age 13 now until Dec. 8 at Department of Family Services. The tree is located at Drube Home and donations can be dropped off there through Dec. 13. Gifts are to be picked up at the Platte Co. Chamber of Commerce Dec. 16 from 8:00 to 11:00 a.m. 

Food 4 Weekends Pantry Food Drive

Canned food and non-perishable items may be dropped off at Blue Raven Realty. Accepting donations until Dec. 11th. 

Toyland 

Christmas Parade

 Friday, Dec. 1 at 6:00 p.m. – Parade ends at the Platte County Court House  

Christmas Tree Lane at the Platte County Library

 Set up is through Dec. 1. Ticket sales start Dec. 2 at the Library. Final day to vote is Dec. 26. The winner will be announced Dec. 27.  

Photos with Santa at the Library

 Dec. 2 from 10:00 a.m. to Noon. 

Parade of Trees Festivities – Santa’s Workshop

Dec. 6 at the Guernsey-Sunrise East Gym, 5:00 p.m. to 7 p.m., Enjoy dinner, entertainment, cookie decorating, and pictures with Santa.  

Glendo Christmas Parade and 

Tree Lighting

 Saturday, Dec. 9. Parade starts at 6:00 p.m. followed by a Tree Lighting, a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus, and fireworks. Chili will be served at the Glendo Fire Hall. 

4-H Snow Globe Gift Workshop

 Dec. 15 at the Platte Co. Extension Office 

Christmas Photos with Pets at the Wheatland Bomgaars

 Dec. 16 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. 

Platte County 4-H Clubs Christmas Community Dinner and Square Dance

Dec. 16 at the Agriplex. Potluck dinner at 6:00 p.m. and square dance at 6:30 p.m.
