WHEATLAND -
The winter storm that dumped 16-inches of snow in the Wheatland area left a remnant of snow and slush that caused organizers of the annual Easter egg hunt to reconsider the location of Lewis Park as the venue. The eggs were moved to the downtown area where the streets were dry and the weather was a bit cool for an early April hunt. The festivities went off without a hitch as there was a flurry of kids with gathering buckets and eggs in the streets of downtown as far as you could see. The venue was actually quite navigable and not one child complained that they couldn’t hunt eggs at the park. There were hundreds of kids and parents who turned out for the annual event. The eggs were filled with goodies and prizes for the weary hunters who had the streets cleared of eggs within 20 minutes. The clean-up crews were impressed with the precision and the speed with which the kids “gathered.”
