WHEATLAND - Ferocious defense and intentional offense kept the Rawlins girls playing catch-up all night as the Lady ‘Dawgs dominated the floor yet again. Coming off a loss to conference rival Torrington the night before, the Bulldogs were poised and ready for non-stop action against the Outlaws on Saturday night.

During an extremely physical contest, both teams exhibited great athleticism and tough work ethic and it seemed the Outlaws were going to keep pace, however, the end of the first period found the Bulldogs with a seven-point lead, 20-13.

Accurate shooting and expert ball-handling from the Bulldogs continued to give the Rawlins girls problems and found themselves more than 10 points behind at half time, in spite of hitting a high percentage of three-point shots.

The refs were letting the girls battle it out, but the Bulldogs avoided foul trouble.

By third quarter, the Lady ‘Dawgs scored several buckets in succession without an answer from their opponent and captured a decisive lead.

The buzzer ended the action with the Bulldogs one top with a score of 58-34. Senior Lily Nichols was the top scorer with 16, followed by senior Kacey Otero with 14, who was also awarded Sportsman of the Game.

Freshman Lily Anderson contributed 10 points, Laynie Goertz put in 10, Karly Jones added four, Camryn Mickelsen added three, and Lola Philo added one.
