GLENDO – Private family services will be held for Richard Jackson Sr., 93. He was known as “Red” to many friends and family.

Mr. Jackson passed away Monday, June 26, 2023, at the Douglas Care Center in Douglas.

He was born Friday, January 24, 1930, in Antonito, Colorado, the son of Victor Emmanual and Florence Lovinna (Bentley) Jackson.

He learned to weld and repair military equipment in the 25th Infantry Division of the United States Army. 

He married Betty Lorraine Davis on July 11, 1952, in Alamosa, Colorado. They moved to Mount Clemens, Michigan, came back to Colorado in 1969 and then in 1978 moved to Glendo, where he resided until a fire destroyed his home in 2017. He then moved to Douglas, where he resided until the time of his death.

He was a proud veteran of the Korean War. He loved spending time with his family and his dogs. After his retirement he enjoyed welding, building things in his shop, and helping his neighbors with home and auto repairs. He loved to go to breakfast every morning at the Village Inn where they treated him like one of the family.

He is survived by his children, Thomas (Darelyn) Jackson of Stewardson Illinois, Florence (Mike) Carolus and Roscoe (Cheryl) Jackson of Douglas and Jewel (Gary) Pullen of Eldersburg, Maryland; grandchildren, Ashley (Brett) Wheeler of Casper, Josh Coudret of Douglas, Jewel (Grace Soske) Jackson and Jenna Jackson of Laramie, Sebastian Pullen of Eldersburg, Maryland, and Stevon Jackson of Muskegon, Michigan; sisters, Marie Stiles and Betty Baldwin of Alamosa, Colorado, Alice Crawford of Los Lunas, New Mexico; and brother, Daniel Jackson of Tampa, Florida

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty, on December 25, 1992; son, Richard Lee Jackson; father, Victor, on January 2, 1955; mother, Florence, on March 21, 1944; five brothers; and four sisters.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Glendo Volunteer Fire Department P.O. Box 362, Glendo, Wyoming 82213 would be appreciated by the family.
