Lady Bulldogs drop a pair to Campbell County

Posted

WHEATLAND - The Lady Bulldogs hosted the Campbell County Camels April 11 for an afternoon double header in cold and blustery conditions.

During the first game the Bulldogs watched the game slip away early and struggled to keep pace with the Camels strong offensive attack. The Camels seemed to have “seeing eye balls” as many of their hits found open spaces on the field and chipping away little by little, it made it hard to stop the Camels racing around the bases.

The Bulldogs were able to put the bat on the ball, but were unable to get on base. Mackenzie Lockman hit a triple in the first inning and Hunter Sisson hit a single in the third inning. The Bulldogs lost to the Camels by a score of 19-2.

During the second game of the day, the Lady Bulldogs came back with a vengeance after the first game. The Bulldogs started the game off strong both offensively and defensively and were able to match the Camels inning by inning, scoring 3 runs in the first inning, 5 runs in the second inning, and 1 run in the third inning.

The Bulldogs were very strong defensively and had no errors during the game. Gracen Mount and Cam Mickelsen led the team offensively by both going 2 for 3 at bat with Mount hitting a triple. Rylee Coates gave the team a memorable moment by hitting her first grand slam homerun in the second inning!

Eleni McKee and Emma McGee shared time on the mound for the Bulldogs, pitching 2 innings each. The Bulldogs have a busy schedule the week of April 18. On Tuesday, April 19 they travel to Thunder Basin for one JV game and two varsity games. Then on Thursday, April 21 they host Cheyenne South in Wheatland for one JV and one varsity game. The 21st is also Senior Night and Media Night for the Bulldogs. Lastly, on Friday, April 22, the Bulldogs travel to Laramie for a varsity double header.
