Karen Sue Owens was born August 24, 1957, in Axtell, Kansas to Ruby & Leroy Detimore. Karen was blessed with 6 sisters and 1 brother.
On October 3, 2023, Karen was diagnosed with cancer and her brave journey began. Courageously, Karen gave all she had to withstand this battle for the last two months. Peacefully and surrounded by family on December 10, 2023, Karen gracefully accepted her wings and began her new journey. A celebration of life will be held at a later date in 2024.
Karen is survived by her loving husband Richard ‘Scrappy’ Owens, son Jason & daughter-in-law Amy Henthorne of Wheatland, daughter Christy Henthorne of Wymore, Nebraska, eight grandchildren and one great-grandson. Karen was preceded in death by her three sisters, Martha, Edna & Juanita, her Mother Ruby & her Father Leroy.
Karen spent the last 25 years serving the Town of Wheatland as the Scale House Operator at the Transfer Station. Greeting all with a friendly smile & always a helpful attitude.
Karen’s last wish was for us all to just love each other always. Live each day to the fullest and be thankful for each day!
