WHEATLAND — The Platte County Memorial Hospital and Platte County Legacy Home Foundation Board awarded Mary Grace Castellanos an educational assistance award on. Mary Grace has worked as a CNA at the Legacy Home since 2016, where she has provided care with activities of daily living, personal care, and meeting basic needs for Legacy Home residents.

Mary has started her second semester in the Nursing Program at Laramie County Community College where she plans to obtain her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.

The Foundation exists to raise funding and provide financial support for selected projects and equipment needs for Platte County Memorial Hospital and Platte County Legacy Home.

In addition, the Foundation designates money specifically for: 1) high school students who wish to pursue a nursing/medical degree and 2) current PC Memorial Hospital staff or Legacy Home staff who are furthering their education. When awarded educational assistance, they agree to remain with their employer for 1- 2 years.

“Thank you so much for your help,” Mary Grace said when presented with the award. She has one more year of her Nursing Program and is inspiring others at the Legacy Home to pursue further education.
