CASPER – The Wheatland Bulldogs volleyball team traveled to the state tournament in Caspet this past week and faced off with Mountain View in the first round of play Thursday, November 2.
The Lady Bulldogs fell in three sets with scores of 25-9, 25-9, and 25-15.
While the Bulldogs lost the first series, they continued in tournament play on Friday, November 3 where they redeemed their loss, beating Worland by the skin of their teeth with scores of 23-25, 25-21, 25-22, 25-23.
The final day of the tournament found the Bulldogs facing long-standing and top-ranked rival, the Douglas Bearcats on Saturday.
In a heartbreaking loss, the Bulldogs held their own making it tough for the Bearcats to prevail, but ultimately lost in three sets with scores of 25-23, 25-23, 25-20.
In post season honors, Wheatland's Gavrielle Dawson, Anna Matthews and Kacey Otero were all named 3A East All-Conference.
