WHEATLAND – One of the ways you can build a strong high school program in athletics is to provide solid training and excitement in the younger grades. Wheatland volleyball is doing just that, placing over 70 girls into tournament play every weekend between April and June.

Ascend’s U10 has 11 girls out for the team. These young athletes will attend 3 tournaments. Their first tournament will be April 23rd in Casper, followed by May 7th in Wheatland and May 14th in Casper.

“At this level we hope to get these ladies excited about the sport of VB for many of them this is their first experience with the sport,” said varsity volleyball coach Lindsay Schaffner. “Our U10 - coaches are Whitney Goff, Kayla Bohlander and Lori Milnes.”

Coaches Trista Teten and Michelle Connell for U12 are leading the 5th and 6th grade group and they have been playing for a couple of seasons now. They had their first tournament in Cheyenne on March 26th. They ended up winning the silver bracket in Cheyenne. they will also play April 9th in Sheridan, April 23rd in Casper, April 30th in Sheridan and May 7th in Wheatland.
