Graveside service and internment for Violet E. Blodgett, 101, were held at 10 a.m. Monday, July 9, 2018, at the Wheatland Cemetery in Wheatland with Pastor Casey Schroeder of the First Christian Church in Wheatland officiating.
Violet died Tuesday, July 3, 2018, at the Platte County Legacy Home in Wheatland, Wyoming.
She was born Sunday, Nov. 19, 1916, in Wheatland, the daughter of John William and Dolly Ethel (Vanortwick) Locke. She was raised and received her education at a country school near Wheatland.  
Violet married Vernon G. Blodgett on July 4, 1934, in Wheatland. She worked in the school lunch room for 13 years and helped Vern with his construction business.  She worked on creating and publishing the Platte County Heritage book, she was the creator of the dust cover for the book.  She enjoyed being an artist, doing paintings, cooking, gardening, going to the mountains, traveling and especially spoiling her family.
She is survived by her daughter Loretta Whinery, of Wheatland; grandchildren Darrel Whinery, David McGuire, Stacy Whinery and Cheryl Robinson; 13 great-grandchildren; 19 great-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-great-grandchild.
Violet was preceded in death by her father, John, on Feb. 3, 1959; mother, Dolly, on Feb. 11, 1966; son John E. Blodgett on Aug. 27, 1967; daughter LaVerne D. McGuire on Jan. 19, 2013; sister Hazel Royce on Sept. 10, 1962; brother George Locke on June 2, 2001; grandson John McGuire on Aug. 26, 2011; and granddaughter Kathy Fisher on April 7, 2013.
Serving as pallbearers will be Darrel Whinery, Stacy Whinery, David McGuire, Milt Mosley, Brandon Munn and Rusty McGuire.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Josh McGuire and Mark McGuire.
A memorial to the choice of the donor would be appreciated by the family.
