WHEATLAND – Last Wednesday, Al Teel, Member Services Manager at Wheatland REA along with Wheatland High School provided a career fair. It was not only for high school students from area schools but also for anyone who is looking to become aware of possible job/career opportunities.
Many training programs had information on student aid and how prospective students could afford to continue their education, with some even offering a wage while they trained for a new career.
The emphasis of college being the only track towards success in recent years has caused a shortage of tradesman nation-wide. In addition, students who chose to go to college struggle to find a job in their field with such a saturated market. Trades, on the other hand, are in need of workers and have almost guaranteed job offers and security.
Students were given free time from their regular classes to see what the presenters had to offer.
Those businesses/schools that participated were:
US Army
Job Corps
Sheridan & Gillette Colleges
Legacy Home
WY Workforce Service
Eastern Wyoming College
