Tough competition in the Services for Seniors Ugly Sweater contest

WHEATLAND — The Services for Seniors Activities calendar in December was full of parties, holiday crafts, caroling and of course an Ugly Sweater Contest (who’s judging that!).

Activities coordinator Carrie Kafka continues to provide the most cheerful, and socially stimulating events for area seniors; a position she clearly loves. “Our numbers keep growing. The fun, festive fellowship times together are so important. It is truly the little things that mean the most,” said Kafka. “Mrs. Pruitt’s elementary class came and sang Christmas songs. It was so precious to see the youngsters singing and sharing cheer with our seniors.

Thirteen little ones were dressed up as penguins, reindeer, and Santa. Christmas is about giving, and seeing the young and the old together in one room sharing the Christmas spirit is so nice.”

The week right before Christmas, the Activities Center was humming with holiday spirit as A White Elephant gift exchange also took place along with a live violin performance from Elaine Haroldson and her student Halle Taylor. Where there is a party, there is good food, and there was no shortage of goodies to be enjoyed by one and all.

The Activities Center will always welcome your donations of craft items, as they participate in crafting up to twice a month, and with numbers growing, building up a surplus of craft supplies is a good thing! The Activities Center will host three dates in January for winter crafting opportunities:  January 11, 18, and 25 at 10:00 am.
