Phyllis Hale, 84 of West Hartford, Connecticut and formerly of Youngtown, Arizona, passed away on October 17, 2023.  Phyllis was born in Phoenix on September 21, 1939 to Carmen (Carron) Bonney and Charles A. Bonney.

After graduating from Flagstaff High School in Flagstaff Arizona, she got her Bachelor’s Degree from Arizona State College and began her career in education, teaching Kindergarten, 3rd and 4th grade in Nebraska and Wyoming.

She received her Master’s Degree in Guidance and Counseling from the University of Wyoming, and also worked as a school Guidance Counselor.

She was very proud of helping to establish a town Recycling Center in Wheatland where she resided for many years. One very fond Wyoming memory was when she collected several large tumbleweeds along fences near Wheatland, connected, shaped and painted them, creating a sparkly white tumbleweed Christmas tree.

After retirement, she lived in Sun City, Arizona then in Youngtown, Arizona. In 2020 she moved to Connecticut and lived for three years in West Hartford with her dear friends at Brookdale at Chatfield, where she painted, sang in the choir, argued in book club and shared many laughs with her friends, whom she loved dearly.

She was predeceased by her husband, Benton Poynter Hale, and her son James Benton Hale.  She is survived by her sister Charlene Elaine Bonney of Encinitas, California, son Ethan Charles Hale of Telluride, Colorado, daughter Roxanne Hale Drolet and grandson Henry Hale Drolet of West Hartford, Connecticut.
