New Series License Plates & Reserved Numbers Information

Posted

WHEATLAND - Every eight years, Wyoming has new issue or a new “series” of license plates, which means the background picture and/or colors on the plate are different from the current license plates series.

Each county in the state has the option to save or hold back a sequence of numbers as “reserved”.

These designated numbers are held for the current possessor of that reserved number.

Those people get first choice of keeping the same number for the new license plate series. In Platte County, your license number is “reserved” if the number you currently have is one of the following: Cars 1-5,000, Trucks 1-5,000, Large Trailers 1-1,000, Small Trailers 1-1,000, Motorcycles 1-1,000, ATVs 1-1,000, Campers 1-200, Commercial 1-100, and Handicap 1-50.

The reserved numbers will be held for the full year of 2017, specifically Jan. 2, 2017 through Dec. 29, 2017 and then will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis beginning Jan. 2, 2018.
