DOUGLAS — Wheatland Lobo varsity attended the Douglas Tournament last weekend, posting a 2-2 record.
During the wood bat tournament the Lobos faced Douglas, Green River, Rawlins and Riverton.
With Ned Hageman on the mound, the Lobos’ first game was very close against the Douglas Cats, though they took the 3-4 loss. Cross Hernandez began the Lobos’ three-run rally in the sixth inning with a double line drive to left field, and Kobey Preuit brought in third run with a double to right field.
In the second game, the Lobos beat Rawlins 12-1. John Sarad allowed only one run in a dominant pitching performance. In addition, Sarad doubled and had three RBIs while Joel Anderson contributed with a double, triple and three RBIs of his own.
The Lobos saw another strong win 12-6 going against the Green River Knights. Warren started a two-out six-run rally in the second inning with a single to right field bringing in two runners and Mytch Pollock contributed in the game run total with a double and three RBIs.
Starting pitcher Pollock and reliever Joel Anderson recorded 13 strikeouts combined against the Knights in the win.
Sunday, the Lobos took a loss against the Riverton Raiders 0-5 in a very tight matchup. Kobey Preuit went just over five innings striking out six with K Peterson closing the game in sixth inning. Pollock led the Lobos, hitting three of the team’s total six hits.
