Larry Dean Fletcher, 67, passed away on Monday, October 30, 2023 at his home in Chugwater.

Larry Fletcher was born September 6, 1956 to Junior and Elizabeth (Lewis) Fletcher in Kansas City, Missouri. He was joined by a sister, Cheryl, in 1957. The family moved from Kansas City to Excelsior Springs where Larry graduated from high school. After a year in college, Larry joined the United States Air Force. He was stationed at Cannon Air Force Base and FE Warren Air Force Base. He was honorably discharged in 1989.

Larry married Becky Fletcher in 1975 and three children were born to that union: Justin Fletcher, Joshua Fletcher, and Jeremy Fletcher. After their divorce he subsequently married Barbara Boyd Penick on October 15, 1988. At which time he inherited four rotten children: Leslie, Tammy, Crystal and William.

Larry worked on jets during his career and ended as a parts researcher for the minute man missiles. He truly enjoyed his time in the Air Force.

Larry enjoyed a number of activities including family, travel, fishing, and farming. He loved working on tractors and pickups and arguing. He had a part-time business following the footsteps of his dad and grandpa in the auto upholstery field. He developed his love of farming by spending part of summers helping on the Fletcher farm in Gallatin, Missouri.

As a result of his marriage to Barb, a small dynasty was formed. There are 27 grandchildren: Stevie (Joe) Marquez, Corinda (Cody) Frick, Lance (Samantha) Sanderson, Andrew Blumer, Joshua (Cinnamon) Eslick, Kevin (Eslick), Baylor (Amber) Eslick, Ty (Cashlin) Anderson, Alexandria, Brianna Woods, Kayla Penick, Emily Penick, Elyse Penick, Konnor Penick, Dusty (Zach) Taylor, Mariah Rainwater, Madison Rainwater, Abigail Fletcher, Andrew Fletcher, John Gaelan Fletcher. There are also 15 great grandchildren, Deagland Smith; Adalynn Frick; Jace, Captain, and Kaven Sanderson; David Hillis; Savannah, Hayden, and Keiffer Eslick; Yulaina, Damon, Stellan, and Braylyn Eslick; Ane‘yea and Piper Taylor.

In addition to the dynasty, Larry is survived by his wife, Barb; uncle, John Fletcher; cousins, Dennis (Beth) Fletcher and Lesa (David) Leeper; mother-in-law, Cathy (Randy) Selby; daughters, Leslie (Chis) Sanderson and Crystal (Jeff) Anderson; sons, Justin (Lupe) Fletcher, Joshua (Melissa) Fletcher, William (Jesse) Penick, and Jeremy (Karlissa) Fletcher; and “special” sons, Robert (Helena) Rainwater and Jason Peterson.

Larry was preceded in death by his grandparents; parents; sister; aunt, Joy; uncle, Jimmy; daughter, Tammy Eslick; son-in-law, Clark Eslick; and grandson, John Gaelan.

A celebration of life will be held in July, 2024.
