John “Alan” Nash

John “Alan” Nash, 85, of Laramie, passed away December 31st, 2023. Alan was born on August 23rd, 1938, Manchester South, England.

Alan grew up in Dronfield, England and enlisted in the British Army where he served from 1957-1960. After serving in the army, Alan worked for British Railways, attended baking school, served as a college campus police officer and entered the Ministry in 1970. His service in the ministry took him to three continents: England, Canada, and The United States. Alan married his second wife Lorinda on October 15th, 1985, in Worland, Wyoming.

Alan loved to talk to everyone and tell jokes; He was an accomplished raconteur and enjoyed discussing the origins of words. Alan very much enjoyed ferroequinology, obscure history, cartography, music, British comedies and fixing everything with tape and blue tack. He also enjoyed bookkeeping, proofreading, and everything to do with Arts and Literature. He was active in non-profit organizations including the Wyoming Writers Association and Kiwanis.

He is preceded in death by his parents Edward and Nora, his sisters Sylvia and Mary, as well as his first wife Nancy Fehdrau. 

He is survived by his wife, Lorinda Nash of Laramie; children Nathan Nash of Gatineau, Quebec, Raydene Nash Ecles (Bram) of Kamloops, B.C, Marco Nash (Myriam) of Montreal, Quebec, Kendell Nash (Kalyn) of Laramie, and Angela Nash of Loveland, Colorado as well as his eight grandchildren and nieces and nephews. 

In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made in Alan’s name to Hospice of Laramie. Burial will be held at a later date.
