Ice pulls ladder off north side of Black Mountain water tower

WHEATLAND — The Black Mountain water tower has been problematic in recent years and the continued severe weather has taken its toll. While there is research and planning underway to address these issues, it currently stands as-is.

Huge shafts of ice formed from leaking areas and proved to be too much for some exterior components of the tower. An access ladder on the north-facing side was “pulled down” in a massive fist of ice where it is currently suspended. Other areas of collected ice can be seen jutting from the tower.
