Funeral services for Charles Wilfred Meining, 98, will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, April 16, 2018 at the First Christian Church in Wheatland, Wyoming with Pastor Randy Gregory officiating.  Inurnment will be held at the Wheatland Cemetery with military honors accorded by Laramie Peak VFW Post 3558, Ora Call American Legion Post #10, and the Army National Guard.
Wilfred Meining passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 1, 2018 at Platte County Memorial Hospital in Wheatland, Wyoming. He lived a full life.  
Wilfred was born February 19, 1920 in Berthoud, Colorado the son of Charles Louis and Mary B. (Owenby) Meining.  He served in the United States Air Corp from 1942-1945.  He was a B-24 Liberator Bomber Pilot and flew 35 missions over France and Germany, reaching the rank of First Lieutenant.
After his honorable discharge he returned to farming and ranching with his father and brother in Berthoud.  On June 6, 1948, he married Lois Irene McCartney and to this union five children were born, Alan, Marsha, Peggy, Charla, and Nancy.  
In 1957 they started their own farm raising Black Angus cattle and row crops.  In 1972 they moved to their ranch north of Wheatland and continued the cattle operation with their son Alan.  Then in 1994 they retired and moved into Wheatland.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Lois Meining of Wheatland; daughters, Marsha (Daryl) Tiltrum of Wheatland, Peggy Meining (friend Gayle Lord) of Casper, Wyoming, Charla (Randy) Gregory of Cheyenne, Wyoming, and Nancy (Russell) Schoonover of Casper; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; brother, Don Meining of Platteville, Colorado; and several nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Alan Meining; and sister, Ruby Schaeffer.
A memorial to the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
