On July 6th the Board of Platte County Commissioners held their first meeting in the newly renovated County Courthouse. The meeting lasted just over six hours. The Commissioners reviewed invoices to be paid, and receipts collected through the end of June, which is the fiscal year end for the County.

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Labor announced that its Division of Coal Mine Workers’ Compensation will host a series of outreach events in Wyoming from June 13 to 15, 2023, for current and former coal miners and their survivors to file or re-file benefit claims for those disabled by black lung.

CHEYENNE – On July 1, Secretary Chuck Gray welcomed several new additions to the Wyoming Election Code. House Enrolled Act 46, which strengthens Wyoming’s voter ID law for absentee ballots, and House Enrolled Act 30, which increases transparency in the release of Wyoming’s Voter Registry List information, all went into effect on July 1. House Enrolled Act 70, which prevents crossover voting and closes Wyoming’s primaries, and Senate Enrolled Act 86, which advances election security by, among other things, shortening the early voting period from forty-five days to twenty-eight days, previously went into effect in March.

CHEYENNE – The Wyoming Weed and Pest Council (WWPC), in partnership with PlayCleanGo®, is excited to participate in the fifth annual PlayCleanGo Awareness Week, June 3 – 10, 2023. This week is dedicated to stopping the spread of invasive species by educating recreationists about quick and easy ways to enjoy the outdoors responsibly.

SUNRISE – The town of Sunrise, known as a ghost town to most people in southeastern Wyoming was flooded last week with a flurry of activity.

Wyoming State Parks, in coordination with the Bureau of Reclamation, is announcing the temporary closure of the river crossing below Glendo dam for the safety of the visiting public.

Glendo Days is celebrated every year right on main street, where many people gathered for the parade and the other events that followed.
