WHEATLAND – Family, friends and colleagues gathered in the Wheatland Town Council chambers Friday, Aug. 23 to be witness to Wheatland’s two newest police officers taking their oath.
Helen Keck and Ambree McGuire stood before interim municipal judge Douglas Dumont, promising to support the constitution of the United States, the constitution of the State of Wyoming, and the ordinances of the Town of Wheatland. Wheatland Police Chief Doug Willadsen and Sgt. Minsaas are eager to add the two female officers to the force. The diversity they will bring to the department allows for improved investigations with multiple viewpoints, they said. While the WPD has been down three officers for some time, adding Keck and McGuire allows the department to do more proactive policing.
The two new officers are recruits from the local area, and are looking forward to serving the Wheatland community.
