WHEATLAND – The twinkle of Christmas lights, and the sparkle and color of decorations have been assembled into Christmas tree displays at Christmas Tree Lane.
With the theme “Enchanted forest,” members of the community have decorated trees placed strategically throughout the Platte County Library in a competition for the most favorite tree, voted on by anyone who wants to purchase a ticket to vote.
The tickets cost 25¢ (or five for a dollar), and people can vote as many times as they want to during business hours through Noon on Tuesday, Dec. 24 when the winner of the most tickets is announced.
Christmas Tree Lane is a fundraiser for the Platte County Main Street Festival of Lights. Anyone who wanted to decorate a tree were able to do so, and voting began on Dec. 7. There’s still plenty of time to check out the trees decorated by Project SAFE, Inc., Department of Family Services, Platte County Parks and Rec, Mrs. McKain’s and Mrs. Wilhelm’s kindergarten class, First State Bank, and Services for Seniors Activities Center.
For more information on Christmas Tree Lane, feel free to stop the library, call 307-322-2689, or check out their Facebook page. And don’t forget to mark your calendars for 4 p.m. Feb. 6 for the next Book ‘n a Bite event hosted by the library at the Agriplex. Participants will be treated to a DIY stuffed animal workshop, a meal and a free book.
