WHEATLAND – As one way to say thanks to the Services for Seniors Activity Center, the Wheatland TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) group donated a bench for the front entrance of the building. TOPS has been 1997 in Wheatland, and they meet weekly at the activity center.
The activities center sponsored two flower crafts and invited seniors to socialize and create during craft time in May. The first project was a flower made of cupcake holders with a stem of sticks gathered from activity director Carrie Kafka’s yard.
“We added leaves and one crafter added dried flowers to the center of her flower,” Kafka said.
A sashay bag with dry flowers was the second project created by the spring-minded participants. Homey scents such as eucalyptus, peppermint and lavender oil were added to the dried flowers in the colorful sashay bags. The crafters took home their flowers and sashay bags to enjoy for a long time to come.
“Once again, it’s the little things that mean the most!” Kafka said.
