Thanksgiving dinner provided for the community

WHEATLAND — There’s good news for anyone who burned the turkey or just simply find themselves stranded or in need of a good home-cooked meal on Thanksgiving.

Small-town communities tend to look out for neighbors, and Platte County is no different.

If you find yourself in need of a Thanksgiving Day dinner in Wheatland, the Wheatland Moose Lodge #1636 is serving up your choice of turkey or ham, stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, green bean casserole, a roll and dessert. Just stop by 608 8th Street or call 307-322-2357 for information or to place an order. They are serving all their orders to-go by walk-in, curbside or delivery up to five miles out of town.

Members of the missionary committee of the Chugwater Valley Church are looking out for their town during the holiday, providing gift baskets of Thanksgiving dinner fixin’s for local families who may have needed a boost. There will be around 10 baskets this year.

Though put together at the church, it’s not from the church – it’s through the church. One of the many organizers, Joyce Rudross, explained. “We want to share the blessings we’ve received from God. We want to glorify Jesus by blessing the families in our community.”

Following the official holiday, the Community Church in Glendo will be serving soup and pie following the service Sunday, Nov. 26. Everyone is welcome to come.
