WHEATLAND – The Wheatland Kiwanis Club recently announced that six graduating seniors from Platte County School District No. 1 and one graduate student have been named recipients of its annual scholarships. The success of the club’s various fundraisers allowed the club to distribute $7,000 in scholarships this year.
Recipients include senior Simon May (University of Wyoming), Rosalind Winter (South Dakota School of Mines & Technology), Tagg Mickelsen (Sheridan College), Annaliese Matthews (University of Wyoming), Bryley Waring (University of Wyoming), and Gary Ennis (University of Wyoming). The undergraduate scholarship went to Ryland Petroski, who is in his second year at the University of Wyoming.
Kiwanis president Jim Lockwood says that each one of these students has demonstrated academic excellence especially while understanding the value of contributing to their communities, which is what the Wheatland Kiwanis Club is all about.
Anyone interested in becoming part of the Wheatland Kiwanis Club, or to learn more about its mission, is invited to attend the luncheon meetings each Wednesday at noon at Guadualajara. For more details about how to get involved, call Julie Minear at 322-5301.
