WHEATLAND – The Services for Seniors Activity Center hosted a seminar on fraud protection last week featuring Amy Dannels and Alyssa Martin from Platte Valley Bank. Dannels and Martin addressed the many versions of fraud; especially those perpetrated on seniors. Identity theft, credit card fraud, and other money-seeking scams were discussed. Fourteen seniors attended the seminar and after the presentation, there was a question-and-answer period.
Craft day was chilly and wet, but that didn’t prevent a few brave souls from getting creative. Kafka featured a spring-themed craft project using plastic spoons and a variety of colorful buttons.
“We made ladybugs, bees, and button flowers. They were just so cute,” Kafka explained. “I love seeing the ladies chatting together, enjoying one another’s company, and getting creative.” It’s the little things.
As always, the activity center is open to donations in the form of crafting and art materials whether it is paint, brushes, glue, ribbon, or any item that could be creatively re-purposed.
Coming soon to an activity center near you will be the 50th Anniversary celebration of the Services for Seniors organization in Wheatland. The public is welcome to come and enjoy the party on March 28 at 1 p.m.
There will be cake, according to Kafka. She encourages anyone that has old stories to tell about their experiences with Services for Seniors to come out to the event to share, socialize, and enjoy a little local history. Live music will be provided by Elaine Haroldson.
