Santa & Mrs. Claus make appearance at holiday bazaar and BBQ

WHEATLAND — In spite of the annual post-Thanksgiving snow storm and sub-freezing temperatures, hardy Wheatlandites forged ahead as the smoky, mouth-watering aroma of barbecued brisket and pork loin hung in the frosty air outside MB Rafter Arena on Saturday, November 25 for the 4th Annual Christmas Bazaar. More than 15 vendors; crafters, artisans, and home-based businesses gathered once again to kick-off the holiday shopping season amid old-time Christmas music and twinkling lights.

MB Rafter Arena was all dressed up in its holiday best and served soft drinks, canned beverages, and a lovely Charles Dickens-esque hot mulled wine along with their signature brisket and smoked pork loin with apricot/jalapeno sauce, ranch-style beans and Not Your Mama’s Mac and Cheese.

Santa and Mrs. Claus arrived in their royal fur-lined garb and handed out treat bags while hearing the secret wishes of each starry-eyed child. Photos were taken of each child and/or family with Santa and his Mrs., and can be found on the Platte County Record Times Facebook page.
