Preparing for winter: Virtual learning options and learning packets Dear Parents and Guardians,

Posted

As we prepare for the winter months ahead, I want to take a moment to discuss our approach to inclement weather and the potential for temporary virtual learning days. The district has implemented temporary virtual learning days instead of the traditional snow days from the past.
While we always hope for safe travel and clear skies, we recognize that our windy snow days can impact the safety of our students and staff. To ensure that our students continue to receive high-quality education during unexpected closures, we will be implementing temporary virtual options for 6-12 graders and learning packets with online resources for K-5th graders when weather conditions prevent in-person attendance.
What You Can Expect:
Virtual Learning Days: If we determine that a normal in person day is not safe, we will shift to a virtual learning format. Students will engage in online lessons and paper pencil activities to keep learning on track.

Communication: We will provide early and timely notice with Parent Square, and social media channels when the temporary virtual days go into effect. Please make sure your current phone numbers and emails are accurate in PowerSchool. These virtual learning days can last usually 1 to 3 days.
Support and Resources: Our teachers will be available to support students during temporary virtual days, and we will share resources to help families navigate online learning.
We appreciate your understanding and flexibility as we adapt to these changes and focus on safety during these upcoming winter months. Together, we can make the most of our winter learning experience!
Thank you for your continued support.
Warm regards,
John Weigel,
Superintendent PCSD #1
