Dear Editor:
We keep hearing from President Donald Trump and the republican congress and senate members that social security is safe and will not be touched, telling us that we can all quit worrying
about it.
Then why are we reducing staff when they were already overwhelmed? Why are we closing offices? Why are we forcing people to travel hundreds of miles to appear in person to address issues?

My husband and I depend on Social Security to pay our bills, including our house payment.
Neither of us is physically able to work full-time anymore. We know there are many more people in the same situation, and it doesn’t matter who anyone’s political affiliation is with.
If you care about your grandparents, your parents or are a Social Security recipient yourself, I am asking you to join me in contacting Senator John Barrasso, Senator Cynthia Lummis and Representative Harriet Hageman and demand that they and their republican counterparts stand up to Trump and stop this now.
Don’t forget that this is our money. We worked years and paid into this by law – we didn’t have a choice – and it was based on the promise that we would have our money returned to us in our retirement years.
We need the services restored to what they were and left alone, period.
