WHEATLAND and Rawlins – The WHS Lady Bulldogs had a dog fight on their hands playing the Blazers at home on Thursday night. It was a tough, physical game with moments of tension. WHS showed composure and self-control as they worked hard for the victory but fell short with a score of 54-46.
Head coach Eric Jones stated, “Not having contact on Monday put us a little behind for Thursday’s game and I think it showed. We did not shoot, rebound, or execute very well. I thought Torrington did all those things very well. We never gave up and that showed cutting their 17-point lead to three in the fourth quarter. A definite learning experience for the girls. We are still a very young team compared to that senior heavy Torrington team.”
Leaders were Lily Anderson with 22 points and five boards, Ella Keil with eight points and four steals, Camryn Mickelsen with three steals, Molly McGuire had six points, Karly Jones posted four boards and three points, and Tayen Wakkuri scored three points.
