CHEYENNE – The Wheatland Bulldogs girls varsity basketball team went 2-2 on the weekend. WHS played a tough game Thursday against the Sheridan Broncs, coming up 10 points short with an end score of 43-33.
It was a hard-fought battle, yet Sheridan – being the returning State 4A Champs of 2024 and number-four-ranked team – proved to be efficient and played with a lot of maturity with few turnovers and consistent shooting. Statistical leaders for the Wheatland team were Lily Anderson with 14 points and five boards, Camryn Mickelsen with seven points and five boards, Karly Jones with five points, Molly McGuire with four points and six boards, and Ella Keil with four assists.
On Friday the Bulldogs bounced back and overcame the number-five team in 4A, the Laramie Plainsmen, by a score of 53-44. WHS really pushed the ball up and beat Laramie in transition as the Lady Bulldogs definitely dictated the pace of the game.
