A gathering to reminisce and honor the life of Karen Joyce (Nagel) Laursen, 74, will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, June 7, 2024 at First Christian Church in Wheatland with Pastor Casey Schroeder officiating. A coffee and cake reception will follow.
Karen Laursen passed away on Saturday, May 11, 2024 at her home in Wheatland.
Karen was born April 27, 1950, the daughter of Everett and Gladys (Wilhelm) Nagel. She was raised in Wheatland. After high school graduation she gave the University of Wyoming the ol’ college try, enjoying her time in Laramie and making many friends and memories. She returned to Wheatland where she held several bookkeeping positions across the community for many years. She welcomed her son, Larry Wickam, in 1985. She married her husband, Chris Laursen, in 2002, and moved to Thornton, Colorado. After retirement and her husband’s death in 2013, she spent some time in sunny Phoenix, Arizona before returning home to Wheatland. Known for a big caring heart, Karen absolutely loved and adored being a mother and grandmother. She will be missed by all her family, friends, and her dog, Ziggy.
Karen is survived by her son, Larry (Jaime) Wickam of Bluffton, South Carolina; granddaughter, Brynlee Wickam; sister, Pamela (Mike) Harris; niece, Candice (John) Hultman; greats, London and Talon Hultman; nephew, Sean (Ashley) Harris; greats, Parker and Dean Harris.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and many aunts and uncles.
