WHEATLAND – Bringing with them opportunity and resources through their business connections and new storefront, Rachel J. Williams and Vincent L. Anderson are following their heart, which led them to the small southeastern Wyoming town of Wheatland. They have been wanting to move here for several years, and finally had the opportunity this summer. So far, it’s a dream come true. And they plan to stay for the long haul.
Williams and Anderson chose Wheatland after learning about the close-knit, family-oriented culture in the town, where people know each other. They also want to be able to enjoy the outdoors – hunting, fishing, hiking, boating and just plain enjoying life and the community.
They happen to also be interested in helping people understand and navigate the world of technology.
Their business, Computer Store is as the name implies, a local computer and electronics resource center offering all the major electronics (computer, printer, software, firmware, printers, ink and unlocked cell phones plus DIY single-board computers, etc.) as any typical box store down the road. They hope to fill the gaps in the community for local businesses and individuals to obtain the computers, hardware, software, firmware, ink and more without having to drive out of town to do so. But there is more this couple wants to bring to the people in the community: the ability to break the mold of expectations for what is available or considered standard in the world of electronic operating systems and software.
“We want to help people develop technologic skills, gain knowledge of computer systems and software, and provide products people want and need, right here in Wheatland,” Anderson said.
He explained, Computer Store by Mighty House, Inc. plans to get the word out to people on the advantages of Libre-style free, open source software (where computer programming code logs and information are free and expected to be easily available for any changes in the code); awareness of how to avoid data mining or phishing scams and realizing there are more than two options for software platforms; and knowledge of privacy-protecting, open source software and apps available that are compatible with both Android and Apple systems. They would also like to cater to people or businesses who want to custom build their own systems to fit their needs, rather than relying on generic systems that may or may not last long into the future.
Mighty House Inc. was founded in 2016 as a leader in cutting-edge IT and networking applications and equipment. Initially focused on government contracting, in 2019 they adapted previous offerings in the new and emerging markets of Privacy-oriented IT and computing solutions, addressing the growing need for digital privacy, related data protection concerns, and data privacy law compliance with a prioritizing of U.S. specific privacy compliance services unmatched by international alternatives available and aligned with the unique state specific requirements that challenged many businesses. The company’s mission is to provide maximal transparency and audit-ability to public and private sector clients through Free and Open Source Hardware, Firmware, and Software (FOSS) driven products. This ensures the highest levels of integrity, consistency, reliability, and performance.
