Items chosen for construction of new community center

GLENDO – Members of the community were invited last week to assist the town in choosing items which will need to be salvaged from the old town shop before it is demolished to build a new community gathering space for the town.
The old building was last used as a business in the 1970s and has sat vacant while being used as storage for sundry items from the Town. Funds from a 1% specific purpose tax were approved by the general electorate of Platte County to create a community center in Glendo, utilizing the old building.
Town councilwoman Heather Schoning said the list created at the informal community center meeting last week will be given to the town attorney, who will use it to draft into a bid request the items which need to be salvaged from the building prior to demolition. The Glendo Town Council hopes to be able to approve the opening of bids for the project at their April 9 meeting.
