Marcus Anderson (l-r), Tim Simpson, Louise Anderson, Kayla King, Eli Reddicks, Miranda Johnson and Krystal McClain pose with a small sampling of the gifts donated to Project Safe, Inc. because of generous donations to the Wheatland Toy Run – and help wrapping by a team of volunteers. King, Project SAFE director, said she was excited to make the phone calls to families who would truly appreciate the help making their kids’ Christmas extra special. The non-profit organization helps victims of all crimes, and sometimes there are children who have had stressful experiences. King said they also give gifts to those children throughout the year, as needed, so the donations are very welcome.
Anderson, one of the organizers, said giving the gifts to families at Project SAFE is a way to pay it forward “It’s great to know there are a lot of people and support behind you,” she said.
“This is just the beginning,” King added. Project SAFE, Inc. in Wheatland has added some new faces, and hopes to have a fresh start in the community.
