WHEATLAND – The Platte County Art Guild artist of the month of May is Jessica Bailey Wightman. Her work can be seen at the windows of Dance Wyoming Studios throughout the month of May.
In her own words, this is her bio:

Born in Detroit, Michigan, and raised in Wheatland, I grew up on a small goat farm just 10 miles outside of town. From a young age, I found photography fascinating—a way to capture moments in time and preserve them forever. Self-taught and driven by a desire to offer affordable family photos, I started my photography journey to make meaningful memories accessible to everyone.
Over time, my passion shifted toward capturing landscapes, candid and nature shots—the genuine smiles, the quiet moments, and the beauty often overlooked. Being a mother of two, a wife of 11 years, and a teller at First State Bank keeps me busy, but photography remains my therapy and joy. It’s like an escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
I have a deep appreciation for all creatures including my three dogs; Coco’s, Dinah and Buddha, a tiger salamander named Richie, my cat Lucky, and even slugs which I once raised. My work has been recognized by Wyoming Wildlife Magazine, where one of my lizard photos was a honorable mention in their February 2020 50th addition.
Through patience and dedication, I strive to reveal the hidden beauty in everyday moments and help others see the world with fresh eyes. Capturing happiness, nature, and the small wonders of life is what I love most. Currently I have not sold any of my personal work, but I do plan to one day. I’m beyond honored to be chosen to share my work and passion as the artist of the month.
