A tower with a view…
Workers appear miniscule when compared to the size of the newest Wheatland water tower. On Monday, the Black Mountain water tower west of Wheatland was raised into position onto the pedestal base which was constructed of 12 “lifts” of poured cement. The Bulldog painted on the side of the 500,000-gallon tower faces the Wheatland High School football field to the northeast. The completed tower will be 120 feet tall, which is 20 feet higher than the previous tower that was demolished last summer because of a catastrophic failure causing extreme leakage. The completion date for the new tower, constructed by Landmark Structures and overseen by engineer Ray Catellier of CEPI, is October 2025.
