Verna Lena (Lewis) Weisgerber, 91, of Enid, Okla., formerly of Longmont, passed away August 8 at St. Mary’s Hospital. She was born Sept. 16, 1922 in Coleridge, Neb. to Walter and Emma (Dirks) Hoeser. She married Bill Lewis in 1939, they later divorced.
Verna worked for and retired from IBM after 15 years of service. After retiring, she volunteered at Longmont Senior Center/Meals on Wheels for 11 years. Verna was a member of the Longmont Moose, and a member of Saint John Baptist Catholic Church until she moved out of state.
Verna enjoyed baking treats, especially known for her delicious pies. She graciously baked for church functions, charity, or just to put a smile on someone’s face.
Verna was preceded in death by her parents; sister Beulah Asbra; sons Bill Lewis and Jim (“Wheels”) Lewis and her daughter Diane Figurelli. She is survived by her son Joe Lewis; grandchildren Kevin Lewis, Kim (Glen) Goranson, Eric (Bobbie) Figurelli, Tony Figurelli, Crystal Figurelli, Nicci (Mino) Johnson; 12 great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial was held Friday, Aug. 15 at St John Baptist Catholic Church, 323 Collyer St, Longmont, CO Burial followed at Longmont Mountain View Cemetery.
